Donec was FitzRoy’s first ever registered care home, and has been rebuilt to create a set of smaller, more modern houses. Donec Mews opened in 2011 and is home to 15 people. Our dedicated and highly professional staff are ready to offer high quality care, 24 hours a day.
These beautiful new homes consist of three modern houses, each with five bedrooms. If you choose to live here we will support you to decorate your bedroom to your own taste. Each house is fully accessible to those in wheelchairs and has state of the art facilities, including assistive technology.
The first floor accommodation is serviced by a lift and the lounge and dining areas are spacious, modern and fully furnished. In each house there are two bathrooms, including an assisted bathroom on the ground floor. Each house also has its own garden, which have been designed for you to enjoy with your housemates.
Our enthusiastic staff team will provide you with the support you need to make sure you are happy and fully involved in the running of your home. We will support you to make your own choices and to get out into the local community. Family and friends are always welcome at Donec Mews, and trips and outings are regularly organised.
Donec Mews is located in Grayshott on the Hampshire/Surrey border. It is in a beautiful rural setting which is quiet, private and safe. There are plenty of local shops and amenities close by which you can reach easily and it is also close to several other FitzRoy services, including On Track Day and Community Services.
New Donec ... new beginnings
Shirley lived at the old house at Donec for many years and due to the sheer size of the house, she often spent a lot of time in her bedroom.
But having moved into one of the new houses at Donec Mews, which has more of a family feel to it, she is much more confident. She now spends all her time downstairs, talking to her housemates and helping out with household chores. This may seem a small step to some, but for Shirley it is a huge move forward, and just one example of how the right surroundings and support can make a big difference.
See inside Donec - we added a short 3 minute video to You Tube of some of the key features shortly before residents first started to move in.
Some of the filming for our recent BBC Lifeline appeal featuring Nick Knowles was shot at Donec Mews - meet Nicholas and see what it's like to live at Donec Mews.
