National Apprenticeship Week 2025 - FitzRoy

National Apprenticeship Week 2025

Published: February 14, 2025

For National Apprenticeship Week, we are celebrating some of FitzRoy’s apprentices as they work towards completing their Apprenticeships in Adult Social Care.

Georgia is currently working towards a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Adult Social Care.

“I have a learning coach who is really responsive and helpful. My management team have also been really supportive, always allowing the time I need to get my apprenticeship work done and answering any questions I’ve got.

“Doing this apprenticeship has really opened my eyes. For example, when learning about management styles, I didn’t realise how much I would change the way I speak to people. Learning the theory behind it makes me realise, ‘Oh! That’s why I do that.’

“My goal once finishing my apprenticeship is to enter a Deputy Manager role. My manager recently had some time off, and I got to fill in as Deputy Manager and really, really enjoyed it. The experience I’ve gained as a Senior Support Worker and in my current secondment, alongside the theory I’m learning in my apprenticeship, is invaluable.”

Susan, a Deputy Manager, is also working towards her Level 4 Leadership Apprenticeship, with goals of joining our Quality team, where she can support other managers to provide outstanding support.

I love that FitzRoy has given me the opportunity to develop. As a support worker, I thought I’d be there forever, but now I’ve worked up to a Deputy Manager position and there are still more opportunities ahead. The progression within FitzRoy is just brilliant.

“I’m really chuffed to be doing this apprenticeship because I never really thought I’d get the chance. Heidi and the training team were amazing, explaining my options and letting me choose which ones suited my career goals.

“My mentor is just brilliant – always on hand to answer questions. My manager, who recently completed the same course, has been amazing at supporting me with anything I need too.”

Both Georgia and Susan’s experiences highlight the value of apprenticeships at FitzRoy. By offering these qualifications and ongoing support, we empower our teams to grow, achieve their goals, and provide the best care for the people we support.

Our Organisation Development Manager, Heidi, said: “FitzRoy is delighted to be able to invest in our team to achieve a variety of Apprenticeship Diplomas as part of their continued professional development. We’re committed to developing our teams, supporting colleagues to take qualifications that have real meaning for their current role and for their future progression. Best of all, the people we support benefit from well-qualified and engaged staff to support them.”
