Living My Life - the life you choose

Living My Life is FitzRoy’s approach that enables you to live the life you choose.

This is picture of our Living My Life framework. It is a circle, with five sections. They are My Future, My Decisions, Who I am, People, Why I get up. These are the outcome areas we focus on with people we support and what they want to be different.

Living My Life

Living My Life is FitzRoy’s approach to person-centred support. It starts with what matters to each person – who they are, the people who matter to them, the choices they want to make, the things that give their life purpose and what they want for their future.

Everyone is different. For one person, independence might mean learning to travel somewhere on their own. For someone else, it might mean choosing how they spend their day, developing friendships or simply being able to make and enjoy their own cup of coffee.

Our job is to listen, understand what matters to you and work with you and the people around you to make those things possible.

What Living My Life looks like

Living My Life isn’t just a framework. You can see it in the ordinary, everyday things that matter to the people we support.

My decisions: David’s coffee

When a change in David’s health meant he could no longer enjoy his usual coffee, his support team listened to what he wanted and worked with his family and healthcare professionals to find a safe way forward. Read David’s story

Living My Life means not settling, It means listening, understanding what matters to each person and always challenging and pushing for better – it is the spirit of Elizabeth FitzRoy.

It means going beyond compliance, not settling, challenging and always pushing for better – it is the spirit of Elizabeth FitzRoy and a promise to John Williams. We will not close our eyes to the changes that are still needed.
