Basepoint at FitzRoy Newhaven for an afternoon of cricket!
Abigail Burgess the manager from Newhaven Basepoint wondered what was in store when she was invited to a cricket match in the new Webb House Lounge area.
She was surprised to find that in was in fact table top cricket! This is one of the specially adapted sports enjoyed at a weekly sports session at Newhaven. They also play Boccia and Curling Golf. These sessions are run by a visiting sports instructor, Anna from Wave Leisure, and it was evident that everyone was having a great time. There was also some friendly rivalry as they had invited some opponents from a nearby FitzRoy service, Linden Cottage.
Before the fun and games Abigail presented the people who live at Webb house a cheque for £250. This brings the final tally of match funding from Basepoint’s ACT Foundation to a staggering £10,000 this year!
Jim Apted, Community Fundraising Coordinator said The partnership between FitzRoy and Basepoint has been amazing for the residents of Webb house. Not only have the sports activities been taking place in the lovely new Lounge that Basepoint helped to fund, this year’s donations are going to renovate and extend a bathroom. This essential update will make the bathroom fully accessible and comfortable for people with physical disabilities. Thank you to Abigail and everyone at Basepoint for the continued support and generosity.
Abigail was really impressed with the sports activities. It was so lovely to see people making the most of their new space and having a great time together with their visitors. This would not have been possible a few years ago. Everyone was really happy and having tremendous fun together. It is great to see that the donations from Basepoint have made such a long-term difference to people’s lives.
