Beth in her new car

Beth’s rollercoaster adventure

Published: June 26, 2026

Beth has always loved adventure. Rollercoasters, theme parks, fast cars and new experiences – she’s a thrill-seeker through and through. Beth wants to make the most of life and embrace every opportunity that comes her way.

But life changed massively for Beth when she was diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington’s disease. The condition affected her mobility and independence, making many of the things she once enjoyed much harder to do.

For six years, Beth had been wanting to go to Alton Towers but never got the opportunity to.

Then Beth moved into her new home where she was supported by FitzRoy. When she arrived, the team sat down with her and asked her a simple question: “What do you want to do?” Immediately Beth told us she wanted to go to Alton Towers.

Rather than adding it to a list for another day, the team got to work, and together with Beth they planned the trip and made sure everything was in place so she could enjoy the day with confidence.

Just three and a half weeks after moving into her new home, Beth was riding rollercoasters at Alton Towers and the smile on her face the whole day said everything.

Since then, she has returned multiple times, secured an annual pass and started planning visits to other theme parks too.

Beyond that, for the first time Beth has her own flat, designed around her taste and personality. From the colours on the walls to the furnishings and decorations, every detail reflects what she wanted.

She has also begun to plan more adventures, going to London, plans for a holiday and attending football matches are all part of her growing list of things she wants to do next.

One of the biggest milestones has been getting her own car through the mobility scheme. Beth chose her car, deciding the features she wanted and now enjoys the freedom it brings.

Most importantly, Beth has got control over how she lives her life and spends her time. Her team are there to support her but Beth is in charge!

Beth’s confidence has also flourished since moving in. She has opened up about her life and built trusting relationships with the people around her.

Beth’s story highlights what Living My Life in action really is – supporting people to live the lives they choose. For Beth, that means rollercoasters, road trips, new experiences and exciting plans for the future. After years of dreaming about what might be possible, she is finally getting the chance to do it.
