We’re delighted to share two standout achievements that reflect the talent, care and ingenuity across FitzRoy. This week, we’re celebrating Shaheen from our East Midlands team and our brilliant IT team, who have both been recognised at major sector awards.
Shaheen Ghafoor – finalist for Outstanding Contribution to Care award at the Nottingham Proud to Care Awards
Shaheen goes above and beyond for everyone she supports. Her proactive approach champions independence
and empowers people to reach their goals. Recently, when someone new moved into the home and was going through a difficult time, Shaheen stepped forward to advocate for them with determination and compassion. She challenged professionals, spoke up with clarity and made sure they received the right support
What makes this even more exceptional is that Shaheen did not feel confident to challenge in a difficult situations. Yet she pushed through those personal barriers because she knew it was what this person needed. Thanks to her persistence, they are now thriving.
Not only has this made someone feel safe and secure in their new home but has also inspired Shaheen’s colleagues to have more confidence in speaking up and making decisions that may seem daunting.
She shows what it truly means to live our FitzRoy values − being brave, seeing the person and finding creative ways to make sure people get the support they deserve. Shaheen’s advocacy is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we have the confidence to fight for and with people we support.
