New found confidence and independence
Bev Pearson, FitzRoy’s Community and Fundraising Coordinator in Nottinghamshire, has been busy with a brand new social engagement project. The project gets the people we support in Nottingham together to build relationships, gain confidence, and learn new skills. Bev told us about Sophie, who has a new found independence.
Sophie has been receiving support in her own home from FitzRoy. At the latest coffee morning, she spent time with others, made herself a cuppa, and indulged in some cake. She had a happy 2 hours chatting whilst enjoying her passion for art on her first ever visit to a coffee morning.
Sophie now feels more independent at home. She’s confident helping out in the kitchen, trying some baking, and making her own tea. She doesn’t rely on her mum as much as she used to, which is transforming her life.
Being able to do the little things that we often take for granted makes a huge difference to someone’s everyday life. Click here to find out how something as simple as an iPad transformed Crispin’s life.
