FitzRoy announces new Chair of Trustees

FitzRoy are delighted to announce that Mark Smith will be our new Chair of Trustees, Mark is a former regional Board member of Business in the Community and a Responsible Business Ambassador for the South East.

Throughout a successful career in the private sector, Mark has always been passionate about supporting communities. As well as his involvement in Business in the Community, Mark recently retired as Chief Executive of Southern Co-op, which under his leadership achieved the Queens Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development in 2022.

Mark joins the FitzRoy board at a challenging time for the social care sector, with ongoing funding constraints and the Baroness Casey Review just getting started.

Mark said:

“I am looking forward to working with Angela and the whole team, and to using my experiences from a career in business to support FitzRoy’s future. There’s so much potential, and I’m excited to be part of it. There’s a real sense of quality at the heart of everything FitzRoy does.”

Mark will be taking up his new position on 10 July 2025, replacing outgoing Chair Martin Kyndt who is stepping down after six and a half years.
