Lizzie in the sky is a diamond
I have always wanted to do a skydive, so when the opportunity to do it for FitzRoy came up, I knew it was meant to be – what a perfect excuse to jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet!
On 23rd June 2019 Lizzie will be taking part in a charity ‘Summer Solstice’ Skydive in aid of FitzRoy. Lizzie’s brother Callum lives at Whitegates View, our registered care home in Hampshire.
Lizzie said:
“Fitzroy is a charity I care for dearly, as they support my wonderful older brother Callum, who has cerebral palsy. I have always wanted to do something to support my brother and give back to FitzRoy, who look after my brother and other residents like him. I previously undertook charity work with the National Citizenship Service in summer 2014 to help renovate the garden at Whitegates View, and I want to continue giving something back; even a small change can have a big impact to others.
“Whilst Callum (or as I call him Cammy, or Camster) cannot tell me how he feels about me doing it due to his cerebral palsy, I would like to think he is happy for me to be doing something that I have always wanted to do.
No matter how much thanks my family and I have for everyone working for FitzRoy and Whitegates View, no words can describe how grateful we are for the ongoing care they provide around the clock. They always consider the residents’ happiness and well being before themselves without seeking recognition for their hard work.
“My family and I were thrilled by the fact that Colette and Sandra, support workers from Whitegates View, took Cammy abroad to Spain for the first time in years; I am sure their endless commitment and time planning the holiday has meant a lot to him, even though he cannot truly express his gratitude. It is moments like these that remind me why FitzRoy and the people within it are amazing and deserve some sort of recognition in return.
“I know there is so much more I want to say but words cannot sum it up!”
