Love4Life members steal the show with Grease
After months of rehearsals, learning lines and practising routines, our Love4Life members took to the stage and wowed with their production of Grease the Musical.
Love4Life members performed on 4 February at The Ashcroft Centre in Fareham, and we spoke to senior Love4Life coordinator Cader about all things Grease.
Cader said: “There is so much work that goes into a show like Grease, the groundwork started in summer last year. Members are involved from the very start and take pride in showing up to rehearsals, learning the script and supporting each other.
“Drama and performing arts are always the most popular sessions we hold at Love4Life, we are lucky to have so many talented natural performers. It only makes sense to showcase their skills in a show like Grease! It gives our members the space to thrive and to work towards something.
“The great thing about putting on a show like Grease is that there is something for everyone to get involved with. Whether you’re used to the spotlight and want a leading role, or are just dabbling in performing and want to be part of the chorus, we have a role for every member. A lot of members come away feeling inspired and want to take on a bigger role in the next show.
“On the day itself there were definitely lots of nerves, but in a good way. There was such a great excited buzz in the dressing room, everyone was ready to get up on the stage and be a star. Throughout every step our members were there for each other, supporting and encouraging. It was so great to see.
“The show itself was incredible. I was sobbing the whole way through! They didn’t seem nervous at all and every number was performed so exceptionally well. I am beyond proud of every single person who took part, on stage and behind the scenes. You could tell the audience were just in awe, it was all round fun and I know members are already excited about the thought of doing another show.
“We also want to say a huge thank you to our volunteers and coordinators, and especially Ian who did all our music and Rosie who directed the show.”
Love4Life member Chris said:
I would like to say how proud I am for all my friends for being so amazing in this show.
Love4Life General Manager Hayley said: “We are so overwhelmed by the feedback of our performance of Grease! I want to say congratulations to all of the incredible cast, thank you to our wonderful back stage and front of house crew and to all of our supporters. Thank you to everyone who attended the shows, we can’t wait to see what the Love4Life members bring next year.”
