“I’m so grateful to be employed by FitzRoy. I feel privileged because there’s just so much positive – and that started with the training.”

Starting a new job is always daunting – but we’re thrilled that Hayley, who joined us to manage Webb House, our care home in East Sussex, has had such a great experience thanks to the training team and her colleagues at Webb House.

Hayley joined us in early March. Having had a less than ideal training experience in a previous role, she began working on her training before officially stepping through FitzRoy’s doors, and from day one she felt that she’d made the right choice.

Hayley said: “The training is laid out in a way that just makes sense. It’s visual, clear, and easy to come back to whenever you need a refresher. That alone made me feel supported before I’d even started. The way it’s put together gives such a good impression of the company – I already knew I made the right choice before I even walked in the door.”

What stood out for Hayley was not just the quality of the training materials, but the people delivering them. She highlighted Aidan’s engaging and energetic approach to in-person training. His ability to keep everyone, from managers who’ve been working in the sector for years to people starting their first support worker role, alert and involved was, in her words, “amazing.”

I’ve done a lot of training in care roles before, but nothing as well structured and engaging as this. It wasn’t just box-ticking, it felt like it had purpose, like it was really preparing me for the job. I came away from it feeling confident, not confused, which was a first!

Hayley’s positive experience extends further than her induction. As a manager, she’s reassured to know that all staff are being held to a high standard from the get go.

“The way training is delivered sends the message that we respect our staff, and we expect the same in return. It sets the tone for everything that follows and you can really see that in how engaged the staff are across all of our homes.

I’m so grateful to be employed by FitzRoy. I feel privileged because there’s just so much positive, and that started with the training. What really struck me is how many people have worked here for years, decades, even. You don’t see that very often. It says a lot about what kind of place this is.

“Honestly, ten out of ten from me and a round of applause to the training team!”
