Summer trips at FitzRoy Trafford
Every year, FitzRoy Trafford Day and Community centre organise summer day trips for the people with learning disabilities they support. This year, their first summer outing was to Blackpool Zoo. Chris Hughes, Service Manager, told us more.
We always organise weekly trips for when the colleges close for summer. This means that people with learning disabilities who usually attend college can instead have the opportunity to get out and about and do something lovely with friends throughout the summer months.
This year was the first time we tried Blackpool Zoo and, despite a bit of soggy English summer weather, the day was a total success. Six people went with Support Workers and had a wonderful time seeing all of the animals with their friends. Everyone was happy and smiling when they returned, the best sign of a successful trip. We will definitely visit again.â
Robert, who went on the trip, said:
I really enjoyed it. I liked seeing the monkeys but the penguins were my favourite.â
