Mandy continued to talk about how she supports her team to provide the best care.
“When we say ‘we see the person’ at FitzRoy, we are talking about the people we support, but we are also talking about our staff. What is most important to me is that my team feels supported to do their job to their best of their ability, so the people we support are being provided with everything they need to achieve their goals. Because I am supported so well by FitzRoy’s management team, I am equipped to give my incredible team everything they need to do their jobs.
“Everyone has their own way of caring for the people we support, and part of my role is trusting and encouraging my team to make their own decisions, be creative and be empowered in their roles.”
Senior support worker, Debbie, has worked at Whitegates View for nine years. She said: “The best thing about working here? The people. The staff, the people we support – everyone is just amazing. It’s incredible knowing you are making such a huge difference to people’s lives.
“If you’re considering applying for a job in care, just do it. Give it a try. Ultimately, it is about the type of person you are, not what experience you have. It’s about supporting people to enjoy their lives and seeing the difference you are making. It’s about being there on their hardest days and helping them through that, but it’s also about being there for their milestones and achievements, and celebrating with them. There is nothing more rewarding.”
Mandy said: “We are looking for more caring and creative people to join my team. It doesn’t matter if you have worked in care or not – if you are determined to make a difference, we want to hear from you.”
