Tony has been able to create his dream bedroom with support from our incredible staff at The Mynd, our supported living service in Nottingham.
We all like our bedrooms to be inspiring and reflect our personalities and our team at The Mynd have worked with Tony so his room is exactly how he wants it.
Tony’s support worker Amy said:
“Tony’s furniture wasn’t in the best of condition and there was a lot of maintenance needed to bring his room back to life. We talked to Tony about redecorating his room, giving him the opportunity to choose the colours and furniture that he wanted.
“When we took Tony into different shops to choose his bedroom furniture, he found it very overwhelming, so we created a colour chart on Tony’s phone so he was easily able to choose what colour he wanted.
Emily, the Mynd service manager said:
Before Tony came to FitzRoy he didn’t have much of a choice about his life and now he has every choice.
“It was a long process for Tony to pick out his choices for his new room. The team were patient with him, reminding him by bringing the topic up in conversation and getting him engaged with the process.
“They adapted their approach every day to make sure Tony made all the choices and was fully involved in the decision-making process.”

“Tony has become a lot more independent over the last few years. He chose the colour and model of his mobility car last year, which he loves to take out and go for a drive.
“Since he’s had his bedroom redecorated, he just sits on his bed and smiles. It’s lovely to see how proud he is of his new room. He’s now settled and happy with his life at FitzRoy which is amazing to see as his support worker.”
