Internal Vacancy – Deputy Manager (Clinical Lead – Essential)

Hours: 30 hours per week
Salary: £43,665.82 – £34,932.65 per annum pro rata (based on 30 hours)
Reporting to: Service Manager

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager with clinical leadership experience to join our team. This internal role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their leadership journey while continuing to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people we support.

You will deputise for the Service Manager and work closely alongside them to lead, develop and empower teams to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred services. You will also act as Clinical Lead, ensuring nursing and clinical needs are assessed, understood, and met in line with best practice and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Service Development

  • Deliver truly person‑centred services that reflect the wishes, aspirations and needs of the people we support
  • Develop innovative activities and plans that promote independence, inclusion and community engagement
  • Carry out regular audits covering quality, compliance and business performance, creating action plans where required
  • Support the Service Manager with annual business planning and performance targets
  • Promote a safe environment for people we support, colleagues and visitors

Team & Resource Management

  • Recruit, develop, motivate and performance‑manage staff and volunteers
  • Support staff development, identifying key responsibilities and growth opportunities
  • Manage rotas effectively to meet service needs and use resources efficiently
  • Take accountability for financial performance at service level, where appropriate
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of records and reports

Communication & Engagement

  • Ensure people we support have meaningful opportunities to have their voices heard
  • Promote equality, diversity, dignity and respect in all areas of practice
  • Build strong relationships with families, professionals, community partners and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain clear and effective internal communication across teams and management

Clinical Lead Responsibilities

  • Lead on assessing, recording and reviewing clinical and nursing needs
  • Ensure Nursing Care Plans are in place and developed collaboratively with families, advocates and professionals
  • Take a multi‑disciplinary approach, liaising with health professionals as required
  • Maintain strong working relationships with GPs and other clinical partners

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Recognised nursing qualification (RGN, RNLD or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks (e.g. CQC), and person‑centred practice
  • Experience supporting teams to deliver high‑quality services
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care or management qualification
  • Experience managing or clinically leading a service
  • Budget and rota management experience
