Part Time Community Engagement Manager

Be the link that brings people and communities together.

At FitzRoy, we support people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs to live the lives they choose — in real homes, as part of real communities.

We’re looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join us in a brand new role across Hampshire.

This isn’t a desk-based role. It’s about being out in the community — meeting people, spotting opportunities, and making things happen.

You’ll spend time in our services getting to know the people we support — what they enjoy, what they’d love to try, what matters to them. Then you’ll take those insights out into the community, building connections with local groups, organisations, businesses and individuals to create opportunities that bring people together.

From gardening projects and music groups to sports, food or creative activities — this role is about creating spaces where people connect through shared interests, not labels.

You’ll work closely with our Fundraising Team to shape these ideas into projects that can attract local support, funding and partnerships.

About the role

Location: Hampshire (with travel across local FitzRoy services and communities)

Contract: Temporary – 18 months
Part Time Salary: Up to £23,040 DOE
Hours: Part time – 24 hours per week

This is a brand new role at FitzRoy, created to strengthen the connection between the people we support and the communities around them.

The Community Engagement Officer will play a vital role in identifying opportunities, building relationships, and developing community-based projects that bring people together through shared interests — not labels or diagnoses.

You will spend time in our services, getting to know people, understanding what matters to them, and using this insight to spark new ideas and partnerships. Working alongside the Fundraising Team and operational colleagues, you will help shape projects that can be supported by local organisations, groups, individuals and funders.

This is a role for someone who has a great understanding of how to make things happen in local communities, gets people on board easily and spots the opportunities for collaboration that creates something wonderful….

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Loves meeting people and building relationships

  • Is proactive and full of relevant and exciting ideas

  • Can spot opportunities and turn them into action

  • Believes in the power of community to change lives

  • Is comfortable working independently and across different locations

In return, you’ll get:

  • The chance to shape a brand new role from the ground up

  • Real variety — no two days will look the same

  • The opportunity to make a visible, lasting difference

  • A supportive team, passionate about what we do

Why this role matters

Too often, people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs are excluded from everyday community life.

At FitzRoy, we believe in something different.

We believe in communities where people are known for who they are, not defined by a diagnosis.

This role will help make that happen.
