Silver Birches is a purpose-built, fully accessible care home specialising in support for
adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Opened in 2019, the home is made up
of two five-person flats, giving people the benefits of living in a smaller household
alongside opportunities to be part of the wider Silver Birches community.

Your room and home

The available room is a lovely, large and fully accessible bedroom within a five-person
first-floor flat.

Located at the end of the corridor with just one neighbouring room, it offers plenty of
personal space while still being part of a smaller household. The bedroom connects to an
accessible Jack and Jill bathroom shared with one other person.

The flat also has its own shared kitchen and communal living space. Everyone living at
Silver Birches can enjoy the large shared garden and garden room.

Who we support

We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Many people we support
at Silver Birches also have physical disabilities.

Our experienced team provides support 24 hours a day and can support people with a
range of individual needs, including

• mobility and physical support needs
• epilepsy and other health needs
• complex communication needs
• physical and other support needs that may change over time

FitzRoy’s specialist support team can also provide additional expertise around people’s
feelings of anxiety, distress or poor mental health and what might prevent them from living a gloriously ordinary
life.

Silver Birches is a registered care home and does not have on-site nurses or provide
nursing care.

The home is fully wheelchair accessible, with

• specialist baths
• hoists and other moving and handling equipment
• spacious communal areas

• an adapted vehicle for wheelchair users

A smaller community within a larger home

Silver Birches is made up of two five-person flats, giving people the familiarity of a smaller
household while still having opportunities to spend time with others across the wider
home.

People can enjoy their own space, spend time with the people they live with or take part in
activities across Silver Birches.

Life at Silver Birches

Silver Birches is in Hampton Wick, with the River Thames around 300 yards away.

There are lots of activities to get involved with at home, including dance therapy, baking and
music. The home also has two vehicles, including one adapted for wheelchair users,
helping people get out and about and maintain relationships with family and friends.

Support is built around each person’s needs, choices, interests and relationships. That
might mean getting out in the local area, seeing family and friends, enjoying activities at
home or having time and space to yourself.

We support people to communicate in ways that work for them and to have as much
choice and control over their daily life as possible.
