Our residential care home in Stone, near Dartford, supports adults with learning disabilities. Many people we support also have physical disabilities or complex health needs.

Our experienced team provides 24-hour support, shaped around each person’s needs, choices and interests. The home is split into two six-bedroom units, giving people the benefits of a smaller household alongside opportunities to be part of the wider  home community.

We have experience supporting people with mobility and physical support needs, complex health needs and different communication needs. FitzRoy’s specialist support team can also provide additional expertise where this would be helpful.

Who we support

We support adults with learning disabilities. Many people living at there also have physical disabilities or complex health needs.

Our team provides support 24 hours a day and gets to know each person, how they communicate, what matters to them and how they want to live their life.

Support can include:

  • personal care
  • mobility and physical support
  • health and wellbeing
  • communication support
  • everyday living skills
  • building and maintaining independence
  • getting out and about
  • maintaining relationships with family and friends

We can also draw on FitzRoy’s wider specialist expertise when additional support is helpful.

An accessible home

The home is arranged across two six-bedroom units. Each has its own bathroom, kitchen, dining room and lounge.

The home is all on one level for ease of access and includes:

  • private bedrooms
  • shared lounges and dining areas
  • adapted bathrooms
  • ceiling hoists
  • hydrotherapy baths
  • areas set up for sensory experiences
  • a large garden
  • an adapted vehicle

Some bedrooms look out over the large rear garden, while others overlook the front garden.

People are supported to make their rooms feel like their own and can be involved in choosing how their home is decorated and furnished.

Support built around you

Everyone is different, so we get to know what matters to each person and build their support around their needs, choices, interests and relationships.

People are encouraged and supported to take an active role in daily life at home, whether that means shopping, cooking or helping to organise activities and social events.

Support is also shaped around people’s individual interests and goals, helping them to have as much choice and control over their daily life as possible.

Our home has a welcoming, homely feel, with plenty of opportunities to spend time with other people or enjoy your own space.

People are supported to get out and about in the local community in ways that matter to them. This might include going shopping, having lunch out, seeing a film, attending a day service, using a hydrotherapy pool, taking part in rebound therapy or going to watch the local football team.

The home has an adapted vehicle to help people get out and about. Where possible, people are also supported to use local public transport and build their confidence and connections in the community.

We are based in Stone, close to Dartford and Bluewater shopping centre.
