Celebrating success at the Great British Care Awards!

Published: November 21, 2025

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news from this year’s Great British Care Awards, and to celebrate an incredible achievement for one of our team.

Kim wins the South East Putting People First Award

A huge congratulations to Kim, support worker at our supported living home in Bedhampton, who won the Putting People First Award in the South East regional heat. Each region holds its own awards and the winners automatically become national finalists. Kim will now represent the South East as the national ceremony.

The judges said:

Kim exemplifies true personalisation in practice. Through creativity, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to person-centred care, she empowers individuals to shape their own support and make informed choices. Her tailored approaches deliver meaningful, measurable impact, ensuring every person is not just supported but genuinely heard, respected and in control.

This is such a well-deserved recognition of her passion, dedication and the difference she makes in the lives of everyone she supports.

Person-centred support that brings people’s interests to life

Kim joined FitzRoy in February looking for a more emotionally and socially rewarding role and from day one, she has gone above and beyond.

She plans activities and trips that truly reflect the interests of the people she supports. One person loves airplanes, so Kim organised a visit to a local airfield. Another loves classical music, so they went to the local Proms in the Park, where he danced at the front and got to have a chat with the orchestra. Other adventures have included the Isle of Wight, country farm parks, the Sea Life Centre and the Beaulieu car museum.

Her colleagues describe her as a role model who sets benchmark for person-centred support.

Sharing what good support looks like

Kim is also the home’s communications champion, regularly sharing updates that capture the joy, choice and community spirit in the home. Her posts inspire colleagues across FitzRoy and show exactly what person-led support looks like in practice.

Roy, Kim’s deputy manager who nominated her for the award said: “Its a thoroughly deserved award for Kim, who has fully embraced FitzRoy’s mantra of putting people first and making a real difference to peoples lives. Now onto the Nationals!!!!! Go Kim!!!!”

Celebrating all our finalists

We also want to shine a spotlight on all of our amazing finalists. A huge congratulations to Sarath – finalist for the Frontline Leader award, and the FitzRoy training team, finalists for the Co-production Award.

Being shortlisted is a huge achievement in itself, and each finalist showcased the creativity, commitment and compassion that make FitzRoy such a special place.

We couldn’t be prouder of them all.
