How volunteering has kept Marcus safe - FitzRoy

How volunteering has kept Marcus safe

Published: June 3, 2016

Marcus started volunteering for FitzRoy in Malvern in 2014. Fitzroy supports Marcus in his own home a few days a week. With spare time on his hands, he was looking for something else that would get him out and about while learning some new skills.

Once a week Marcus works with a member of staff to help to maintain the wonderful gardens at the Malvern service. He has Asperger Syndrome, and his volunteering role has helped to develop his confidence. In return he helps to give the people living at the service a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. Marcus has unfortunately had some negative experiences with others in his community, but volunteering with support from FitzRoy has helped to keep him away from those situations.

Garden projects like the one that Marcus helps to look after and other services around the country take a lot of work. We are always looking for volunteers to come and help us out! Click here to see our latest volunteering opportunities and start transforming lives!
