We promise to protect and respect your privacy. This policy sets out how Love4life uses and protects any information that you give us.

We promise to protect and respect your privacy. This is our privacy policy, and relates to all the information we hold and all the ways we communicate – the website, email, letter, phone and in person. It covers how we use (process) the personal information you provide to us, and how we are committed to keeping it safe and managing it in line with data protection laws.

What we do
Love4life provides social opportunities to people with a range of support needs – including autism, and learning disabilities.

In order to do all this we collect personal data in the course of our interactions with supporters, families, health and social care professionals, volunteers and staff.

We value our relationship with you and we use your personal data to ensure we contact you in the most appropriate way, improve our services and to ensure we work efficiently and effectively. We also want to make sure you only receive the information that you want and need. You can opt out at any time by emailing info@love4life.org.uk.

What information we collect
The information we hold about you may include:

  • Name, title
  • Contact details including postal address, email and phone numbers
  • Records of communications sent to you
  • If you have donated to us, your donations and gift aid status (as required by HMRC)
  • If you volunteer for us, including what your interests are, and what roles you are doing.
  • For health and social care professionals and fundraising associated with companies, your job title(s) and the organisation(s) you work for.
  • Your contact with us including attendance at our events or membership of Love4Life.
  • Your contact preferences.

Love4life does not store any credit/debit cards details.

How we collect it
The vast majority of information we hold is obtained directly from you as part of providing information and services to you. When we collect it, we will tell you why we are asking for it. This includes:

  • If you fundraise or donate to us
  • If you participate in our events
  • If you sign up as a Love4Life member
  • If you sign up to volunteer for us

How we use your data and on what basis

For general communications, we will only use your information if we have your consent to do so or we believe there is a case for legitimate interest.

Tools may be used to help us improve the effectiveness of our communications with you, including tracking whether the emails we send are opened and which links are clicked within a message. We monitor website visits and use tools such as Google Analytics to improve our website and services.

Cookies
Like many websites our site uses small data files stored on your computer, called cookies. Our website stores cookies which tell us how each user got to our site, and the pages each user has been on. We do not collect personal information from the cookies. We use Google Analytics to monitor our site traffic and the ways people use our site, these cookies do not contain any personal information about each user. You can disable cookies in your browser if you want to opt out.

Cookies do not give us access to your computer or any information about it. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website and we hope you will be happy to have them from our website.

How we keep your information safe

We will never share or sell your information to other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes.

If you request a copy of the information we hold on you (via a Subject Access Request) we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before providing it to you.

All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. Payment transactions are encrypted. The transmission of information over the internet is never completely secure, but we’ll do our best to protect your personal data. We use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Keeping your information
The information you provide will be retained by us in accordance with the applicable law.

Please note that if you have publicly shared information with us (for instance via social media) it may well have been copied by other people or organisations outside of our control.

Your rights
While we hold information about you, you will always have the right to:

  • Be informed how we use your information (via this privacy statement)
  • Request a copy of the information we hold about you (subject access request)
  • Update, amend or rectify the information we hold about you
  • Change your communication preferences at any time
  • Ask us to remove your information from our records (note there are limitations on this, such as where we must retain data for HMRC or legal purposes)
  • Withdraw consent, wherever it is the basis for our use of your information
  • Object to any automated processing we are doing of your information

And you have the right of judicial review if you feel we have refused a legitimate request about the above.

What to do if you are not happy
