“We got through our outbreak as a team”

Dealing with a coronavirus outbreak is one of the hardest experiences our staff could face. Thankfully, they don’t have to face it alone. We spoke to FitzRoy manager Denise about how, with the combined efforts of her staff and teams across FitzRoy,  her East Sussex care home battled through their toughest challenge to date.

Cathryn has been supported by FitzRoy for eight years and in that time has overcome obstacles and inspired so many with her journey.

Greg’s drum shed is his sanctuary during lockdown

The people we support at FitzRoy have been very hard hit during the pandemic. They don’t always understand why they can’t see their friends and family and or do some of their favourite activities. Greg, who we support at our residential care home in Kent, has been struggling with the restrictions – and staff decided to use Greg’s biggest passion to help him find his zest for life again.

Creative communication makes a difference for Aaron

Routine is so important for many of the people we support. Throughout the pandemic our staff have been coming up with lots of creative ways to help keep the people we support safe during the pandemic, and to reduce any distress they may feel because of changes to their routine.

Peter’s pride in publishing his second book

Peter, who is a member of our friendship and dating project Love4Life, has been celebrating the publication of his second book – which he both wrote and illustrated.

Stuart’s got mail!

Stuart attends our day service in Waterlooville, Hampshire and loves socialising, football, and most importantly - the news. After he sent a Christmas card to ITV news presenter Fred Dinenage, he didn't expect to start his new year with a letter back from his favourite news presenter.

Oliver overcomes his coronavirus anxiety

When the first lockdown was lifted, Oliver – who we support at Boldshaves Oast care home in Kent – became very nervous and anxious. Staff noticed the change in his behaviour and quickly took action to find ways to support him through these challenging times.
