Love4Life Volunteer FAQs

Your questions, answered.

How much time do I need to give as a Love4Life volunteer?

You can give as much or as little time as you want to volunteer for Love4Life. However, we would prefer for you to commit to one social event a month. Currently, volunteers give between five hours a month to a couple of days a week!

How long does a social event last?

Our social events can last from one hour up to three hours, so volunteering is very easy to fit around your life, whenever you have free time.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

There are no age limits for volunteers. However, if you are under 18, we will need the written consent of your parent or guardian.

Where will I be volunteering?

We currently have offices in Fareham and Basingstoke, and our social events take place across Hampshire.

What kind of things will I be doing?

When you volunteer for Love4Life you will be required to set up an event if needed and support members to socialise with one another whilst doing activities. You will help to chaperone trips out such as bowling, cinema, karaoke, dinners out, sports activities, the list goes on!

Can I only chaperone dates?

If that’s all you want to do, then yes. Love4Life is about friendship, making memories and having fun, but volunteering also includes chaperoning dates.

Do I need specialist skills to volunteer for Love4Life?

No. We just want lovely people with some time to spare. Most of our volunteering roles don’t require specialist skills, but we’re also happy to hear from you if you have specific skills you’d like to use when volunteering. Just let us know what you can do, and we’ll discuss how we can best use your talents and experience.

What support and training would I get?

All our volunteers have an induction when they start and initial training to carry out their role. There may be opportunities for further training. You’ll also receive ongoing support through our support network and regular information updates.

Do you pay volunteers?

While we don’t pay volunteers a salary, we do pay reasonable expenses, which might include travel or meals when you’re volunteering.

What if I have a criminal record?

You may still be able to volunteer if you have a criminal record. We’ll ask you to complete a DBS check, and make a decision on a case-by-case basis.
