FitzRoy could not transform the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs without your support. Through your financial donations, raising money for us, getting involved in our campaigns, volunteering, or being advocates for us, your support means everything to us. The information you provide helps us do all this and allows us to keep you informed about our work.
We promise to protect and respect your privacy. This is our privacy policy, and relates to all the information we hold and all the ways we communicate – the website, email, letter, phone and in person. It covers how we use (process) the personal information you provide to us, and how we are committed to keeping it safe and managing it in line with data protection laws.
What we do
FitzRoy provides housing and support services to people with a range of support needs – including autism, learning disabilities and mental health.
In order to do all this we collect personal data in the course of our interactions with supporters, families, health and social care professionals, volunteers and staff.
We value our relationship with you and we use your personal data to ensure we contact you in the most appropriate way, improve our services and to ensure we work efficiently and effectively. We also want to make sure you only receive the information that you want and need. You can opt out at any time by emailing fundraising@fitzroy.org
What information we collect
The information we hold about you may include:
Name, title
Contact details including postal address, email and phone numbers
Records of communications sent to you
If you have donated to us, your donations and gift aid status (as required by HMRC)
If you volunteer for us, including what your interests are, and what roles you are doing.
For health and social care professionals and fundraising associated with companies, your job title(s) and the organisation(s) you work for
Your contact with us including attendance at our events or membership of Love4Life.
Your contact preferences.
FitzRoy does not store any credit/debit cards details.
How we collect it
The vast majority of information we hold is obtained directly from you as part of providing information and services to you. When we collect it, we will tell you why we are asking for it. This includes:
- When you fundraise or donate to us
- If you participate in our events
- If you sign up as a Love4Life member
- If you sign up to volunteer for us
We may also receive your information through third parties such as Just Giving and similar services.
How we use your data and on what basis
For fundraising and general communications, we will only use your information if we have your consent to do so or we believe there is a case for legitimate interest. We will use your information about donations and gift aid declarations to claim gift aid from HMRC.
Tools may be used to help us improve the effectiveness of our communications with you, including tracking whether the emails we send are opened and which links are clicked within a message. We monitor website visits and use tools such as Google Analytics to improve our website and services.
Best practice
Fundraising is a key part of FitzRoy’s work and we are committed to working in a transparent, ethical, responsible, and honest way. To reflect this commitment we are a member of the Fundraising Regulator and committed to the Regulator’s code of practice. We are also members of the Institute of Fundraising and use their codes of practice as a guideline to our fundraising to ensure best practice.
Cookies
Like many websites our site uses small data files stored on your computer, called cookies. Our website stores cookies which tell us how each user got to our site, and the pages each user has been on. We do not collect personal information from the cookies. We use Google Analytics to monitor our site traffic and the ways people use our site, these cookies do not contain any personal information about each user. You can disable cookies in your browser if you want to opt out.

Please talk to us. We will promptly respond to complaints and correct any information that we hold about you if it is found to be incorrect, especially your contact preferences.
