From lonely to in love, with FitzRoy!
Matthew, 23, who has autism, has been a member of Love4Life for just over a year and his life has been transformed. Matthew’s parents told us about his journey.

Therapy dog relaxes people with learning disabilities in Kent
The residents at FitzRoy The Croft in Kent have Jake the dog to visit once a week. Their four legged friend is a Pets As Therapy dog.

Volunteering: “I enjoy it more than I ever could have anticipated!”
FitzRoy Trafford Day and Community Centre is a hub of activity that offers a wide range of sessions for people with learning disabilities.

“I volunteer because I want to use my life skills to give back”
FitzRoy Leo Trust in Kent is a registered care home which has its very own horticulture project on site. The project takes lots of hard work and dedication from residents, staff, and volunteers.

Marcus is a supported volunteer at FitzRoy Malvern. Once a week he works alongside a member of staff, Nigel, to help maintain the beautiful gardens at the service.

Volunteering: “Being in the same room as all those smiling faces never fails to make me smile too!”
Love4Life is FitzRoy’s friendship and dating project for people with learning disabilities and autism. The project doesn’t receive government funding so relies solely on fundraised money. This also means that it depends on volunteers generously giving up their time to help run over ten events for its 100+ members every month.

It immediately felt a privilege to be considered as a Trustee
FitzRoy is governed by a Board of Trustees, all of which volunteer their time and expertise. Andy Lee, who has been on the board since 2014, told us why he became a Trustee after retiring from a senior position in Lloyds Bank.

FitzRoy drama group perform at Brendoncare over 60’s club
FitzRoy Day and Community centre in Petersfield Hampshire, On Track, are famous for their fantastic drama group. Recently some of the members were asked to perform at a drop in club for the over 60’s run by Brendoncare.

Team FitzRoy took on Portsmouth Dragon Boat Festival 2017
FitzRoy were out in force this year after the huge success of the 2016 Portsmouth Dragon Boat Festival. Not only did we have a boat full of almost 20 FitzRoy staff, friends, and family, we had a further three boats full of fundraisers on the water!
