The Maltings have had a week of summer festivities, from a flower power day through to a party day and even a carnival that families joined in with. However, Wednesday was Pirate Day, with a firm focus on all things piratical!
Jamie and Lorraine, who are supported by our Newark Support at Home team, have recently achieved a rather lofty goal together: they overcame their fears and tackled Go Ape for the very first time!
One of our care homes in Essex celebrated 40 years since they first opened their doors, supporting 10 people with learning disabilities and autism. Five of the current residents have lived there since we first opened and four have lived there for 25-35 years.

Sally has lived at our Basingstoke supported living service for several years. She suffers from extreme anxiety, and had completely withdrawn into herself. When she moved here, she wouldn’t leave her flat; however, things started to change recently.

We have supported 25 year old Krena since 2016 at one of our supported living services in Birmingham. Since Krena moved in, she’s dreamed of performing on stage but has struggled to find the confidence to do so. After studying drama at college and receiving support from our dedicated staff, Krena finally had the opportunity to fulfill her dream and perform on stage last month.
Our Norfolk Support at Home service provides support to 34 people with a wide range of needs helping them to maintain their independence in their own homes, whether that be with 24-hour support or 3 hours of support a week to access the community. The service supports people to keep living in their own homes as well as supporting them out and about, whether it be to the shops, the cinema, or a walk. The service recently organised a picnic at a local deer park for the people they support to socialise and enjoy a fun-filled day out together.
Vicky lives in one of our supported living services in Nottingham which specialises in supporting people with their mental health needs. We offer a stepping stone for people in their move from a psychiatric hospital to fully independent living.
At FitzRoy, we support people to break down the barriers that might prevent them from doing the things they love! We don’t focus on what people can’t do but rather on what they CAN do, and that includes flying planes! As Learning Disability Week comes to a close, we wanted to celebrate the achievements of our On Track day service members.
